I have to confess something to my parents: I was stupid and you were right.
Networking is important! Networking is important! Networking is important!
Even
if you are extremely smart and talented, networking is important.
Imagine you meet a new person each day. Annually, you will build a
network of almost 400 hundred people. Things become so much easier when
you have many acquaintances. You might even meet a person with whom you
will want to spend the rest of your life.
Moreover,
by talking to a stranger each day, you build up your social confidence
and satisfy your need/want of social interaction. How cool?!
TALK TO YOURSELF
I
learned this one recently. I was maddeningly going over from one room
to another. I was in a very difficult and rough period at that time. For
a moment, I stopped and looked at the mirror. For whatever reason, I
began talking to myself.
Now, I made a habit
out of it and, so far, it has been extremely beneficial. I sometimes use
it to understand my mistakes or simply motivate myself.
We know truths at the back of our heads about ourselves and simply seek to hear them from others: “You are good enough. Work hard!”
Instead of seeking to hear it from others, why not “listen” to ourselves?
Try it. You won’t regret it. (Yeah, you sound crazy sometimes but it is worth the sacrifice!)
READ AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES EACH DAY
This
is a well-known habit that many people are aware of but do not follow.
The reason, I think, is because people misunderstand the premise of this
habit.
It is NOT to gather knowledge. Well,
let’s be honest, it is unlikely that you remember what you read half a
year ago, sitting on the toilet.
But, like your body, your brain needs an exercise: reading an article or two a day will keep your brain sharp and ready-to-use.
