Keep your vocab strong.

  • Keep an organized vocabulary notebook.
  • Look at the words again after 24 hours, after one week and after one month.
  • Learn words with a friend. It can be more fun and easier to learn with someone else.
  • Learn a few words but not too many. About seven new words a day is a good number.
  • Create a learning environment. When you’re studying abroad, you will hear and read the language everywhere and learn much faster through immersion. But you don’t have to go abroad to slowly increase the number of words you know – you can create an inspiring and study-friendly environment wherever you are.
  • Learn from real-life situations. Speaking of context: Movies, TV shows, books, podcasts or songs are not only a great source for the most common words, they can also help you memorize the vocabulary because they always come associated with a scene, a person, or a (real-life) event.
  • Read, This is an essential activity because reading is the best way to be exposed to a rich and wide vocabulary.
  • Record yourself, By hearing your own voice say the words out loud and feeling your mouth move, you are making even more connections in your brain.
  • RepeatAs Spanish people say, “la repetición es la madre del éxito”, or, in English: “repetition is the key to success”. It’s true. To learn anything you must repeat, repeat, repeat.
Hope this helps.

Thank you!
