Chanakya would add a little poison in Chandragupta Maurya's food to make him immune ( do not try this at home). One day, his pregnant wife happened to eat from it . She was thus poisoned. However Chanakya was able to save her son by cutting open her womb. Apparently one drop off poison did enter the child. Thus he was named Bindusar
Bindusar was told that his mother died while giving birth to him . But one day , he was told that she died after eating food laced with poison by Chanakya .
He thus accused Chanakya of murdering her . Unable to bear the insult even after serving the king for so many years , Chanakya decided to give up food and die of starvation .
